There is no better way to shade San Antonio’s downtown streets than using native and indigenous trees. Trees produce oxygen, help filter pollution, provide animal habitat, and enhance natural beauty. When planting street trees in the ground, extensive city planning, and utility coordination is often required.

To maximize and expediate the application of shade trees in downtown S.A., this proposal recommends the development of the movable and durable vessel that can sustain the growth of ultra-drought tolerant trees. The use of thoughtful planter engineering and native tree selection will minimize watering needs and maximize shade without significant capital costs to rebuild tree-lined downtown streets.
